About Alumina (Aluminum Oxide)

Aluminum Oxide (Al2O3), or Alumina, is one of the most versatile refractory ceramic oxides. Alumina can exist in several crystalline phases, with the alpha phase being the most common for engineering applications because of its high stiffness, strength, corrosion resistance, and very high temperature resistance. High purity Alumina is usable in oxidizing atmospheres at temperatures exceeding 1900°C. The exact material properties depend strongly on the percentage of Aluminum Oxide.

Alumina (Aluminum Oxide) Applications

  • Arc chamber liners
  • Alignment chucks
  • Ballistic armor
  • Brazing fixtures
  • Ceramic cups
  • Conveyor rollers
  • Electronics substrates
  • Heat spreaders
  • High voltage insulators
