Borosilicate glass is primarily made from Silica and Boron Oxide. It has a relatively low coefficient of thermal expansion (though not as low as Fused Silica). Because of its excellent durability, chemical and heat resistance, Borosilicate glass is commonly used for chemical laboratory equipment, lighting and some optical windows. Pyrex, manufactured by Corning, Inc., is a common brand of Borosilicate glass. Duran™ or Borofloat™ by Schott Glass are other common brand names.
