Ferrites are dense, homogeneous polycrystalline magnetic materials made by mixing iron oxides with elements of metals such as manganese, zinc, nickel and magnesium carbonates. Compared with other magnetic materials, ferrites can be designed to have high electrical resistivity and low eddy current losses over a wide frequency range. Ferrite materials are typically manufactured using sintering ceramic processes. Often times, the sintering process occurs in an oxygen deficient environment and/or under magnetic field. The magnetic properties of ferrites vary considerably with the specific formulation and manufacturing conditions. See material suppliers for details.
