Alignment Ferrule

Application:  Aligning optical fiber cores to lasers is always a challenge.  Doing so in a handheld instrument requires uncommon robustness in the design and manufacturing tolerances.   Handheld laser-based therapeutic instruments must withstand wide temperature ranges, uncertain use profiles and the occasional drop on the floor.  CiDRA® Precision Services, LLC leveraged its engineering talent to help design this ferrule so that it met all of the design requirements, but could also be manufactured at an attractive price.

Features:  This ferrule starts from a standard Zirconia ferrule blank, is centerless ground and then a +/-2um accuracy groove is diced along its axis.
