Application: Microarrays are used to help understand the basic genetic and proteomic functions, connections and responses. Genotyping, gene expression and protein expression are the most common uses of microarrays, but there are many other uses as well. Assessing the manufacturing quality of microarrays often involves fluidic reactions followed by some form of optical probing. Microarray manufacturers often use fluidically connected, water tight optical windows to perform efficient in-process evaluation.
