Sapphire Lens Array

Application:  Optical lens arrays are used in optical image processing, telecommunications, space optics and a variety of other applications.  Lens arrays made from sapphire are usually intended for the infrared regime or for extremely harsh thermomechanical environments.  Sapphire lens arrarys require unique expertise to manufacturing due to the intrinsic hardness and crystalline structure of the material.

Features:  These single crystal sapphire arrays are shaped using custom designed grinding wheels, and then flat ground and polished to produce apertures with 10um tolerances.
